International Symposiums

The society holds an International Symposium every two years. The meeting and symposia cover the major areas of forensic science – arson, biology, crime scene, disasters, documents, drug-associated crime, explosions, firearms, fingerprints, homicide, odontology, pathology, toxicology and other disciplines related to both medicine and the law.

The next Symposium is the

21st International Symposium on the Forensic Sciences

23–27th September 2012
The Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart Tasmania

On behalf of the 2012 Organising Committee, we are delighted to invite you to participate in the 21st International Symposium on the Forensic Sciences of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS), to be held in Hobart from the 23rd to the 27th of September, 2012 at The Hotel Grand Chancellor.

Join us in the picturesque island state of Tasmania to hear national and international leaders in forensic science speak on a diverse range of topics, to participate in an exciting social program and to enjoy the best in fine Tasmanian food and wine.

The Organising Committee plans to offer a scientific and educational program, with strong international and national participation from a cross-section of individuals connected with:

  • Forensic science;
  • Legal medicine;
  • Law enforcement;
  • Security;
  • The judiciary;
  • Training and education;
  • Research and development; and
  • Policy development.

The symposium program will be complemented by an extensive industry exhibition showcasing the latest products and services within the forensic science and related industries.
