ABSTRACT:

This presentation provides an overview of a criminal case that captured the imagination of people the world over. In the winter of 2001, British tourist Peter FALCONIO was murdered in remote outback Australia, and his girlfriend Joanne LEES abducted and assaulted. The case grabbed headlines then and has continued to generate interest to this day. The presenter, Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Rowe, was involved from the early days of the investigation and managed the Intelligence Division of the Taskforce concerned with the case. She also supported the prosecution team through both the Committal hearing and the trial, eventually leading to the conviction of Bradley John MURDOCH. D/S/Sergeant Rowe will provide an audiovisual presentation outlining the case from crime scene to court room, including an analysis of the forensic science, relating to DNA and other sources of evidence, used to prosecute the case.
